Bills Trade OL Cody Ford to the Cardinals
A second-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft, Ford was in danger of not making the final 53-man roster for the Buffalo Bills due to their excellent depth. Instead, they trade former Oklahoma Sooner to reunite with his college quarterback Kyler Murray. In exchange, the Bills received a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft. With guard and tackle flexibility, Ford gives the Cardinals another capable player in an offensive line room that isn't the strongest.

Star linebacker Roquan Smith, who had been participating in a "hold-in" while awaiting a new contract, returned to practice Saturday for the Bears. While a new contract hasn't been announced, former head coach Dave Wannstedt said Friday that "Maybe the Bears playing great defense against Seattle will be a little bit of an eye-opener and he’ll say, “You know what, maybe they don’t need me, let’s get this done." After returning to practice, Smith said he was going to play out the final year of his contract and bet on himself.
After not landing the new deal he wanted and returning to practice today for the first time during this summer’s training camp, Bears’ LB Roquan Smith said. “This is the last year of my deal and I’m going to bet on myself as I’ve always done.”
