Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor Needs Thumb Surgery
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is dealing with a thumb injury that will require surgery. Team owner Jim Irsay told The Athletic that the Colts are hopeful he could return in two to three weeks, but they will have full clarity after the surgery.
Taylor suffered the injury during the first half of Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played through it and finished the game with 15 carries for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
Taylor missed the start of the season due to an ankle injury and a contract dispute. Through seven games, he has 414 yards rushing with four touchdowns and 16 catches for 137 yards with a touchdown. Indianapolis signed him to a three-year, $42 million extension on October 7.
Zack Moss will take over as the lead back in Taylor's absence. Moss has been productive this season with 810 total yards and six touchdowns.
The Colts are 6-5 on the season and are currently the No. 7 seed in the AFC.
