NFL Draft: Best Available Prospects Entering Day 2

Based on the 33rd Team’s Big Board, here are the best players still available heading into Round 2 of the NFL Draft:
No. 1: Azeez Ojulari, EDGE, Georgia
Who is he?
Azeez Ojulari is a 3-4 OLB who wins with a combination of leverage, flexibility, pass rush polish and speed. He can be a valued member of a defensive line rotation in year one and play all three downs.
Why is he available?
Ojulari was reportedly flagged for a degenerative lower leg condition at NFL Combine medical checks, and likely slipped because of that. It’s unclear how far the medical concerns will cause him to fall.
No. 2: Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU
Who is he?
A rangy yet physical safety with good click and close ability and aggressiveness at the catch point. Moehrig is the type of safety who can patrol the deep middle, play in the box, or man up in the slot.
Why is he available?
Safeties have not been in high demand in the first round, and Moehrig showed only adequate tackling and pursuit ability on tape. He likely should be the first safety off the board, and an early Day 2 pick.
No. 3: Jalen Mayfield, OT, Michigan
Who is he?
Mayfield is a highly mobile tackle prospect with very good balance and mirror and match ability. He fits best as a right tackle in an outside zone scheme, but could potentially play on the left side and has the ability to play in multiple schemes.
Why is he available?
With a serious run on edge rushers late in the first round, some highly talented offensive linemen became unexpectedly available for Day 2. Mayfield’s lack of experience and merely adequate anchor strength may have held him back, but he should not be on the board for very long in the second round.
No. 4: Javonte Williams, RB, North Carolina
Who is he?
The No. 26 player on the 33rd Team Big Board, Javonte Williams pairs outstanding physicality with elite instincts and good athleticism for the position. He has three-down ability and will bring a bruising style to the NFL.
Why is he available?
As the third-best running back on the board, Williams going in the first round was never a likely outcome. However, he’ll be the cream of the crop of offensive playmakers available on Day 2, and it would be surprising if he makes it out of the first half of the second round.
No. 5: Christian Barmore, DL, Alabama
Who is he?
An extremely quick defensive lineman with excellent flashes of pass rush acumen, Barmore was expected to be drafted on Day 1 as the cream of a weak defensive line crop. He brings a multitude of pass rush moves and a good motor, but struggles with pad level and lower body flexibility.
Why is he available?
There was speculation that Barmore could potentially be a top 20 pick, but his fall to Day 2 shows that teams weren’t sold on the small sample size at Alabama. Barmore was not an every-down player, and while he had elite flashes, his play was inconsistent on a down-to-down basis.
