Senior Bowl Update: 11 Players Who Helped Themselves on Day 1
After Day 1 of practice at the 2021 Reese’s Senior Bowl, perhaps no prospect helped himself more than Alabama QB Mac Jones. Playing for the American Team that is coached by Matt Rhule and the Carolina Panthers, Jones was the clear No. 1 QB on the practice field Tuesday. He looked calm and confident, showed really solid fundamentals and was extremely accurate. If there were any questions coming into Mobile, Jones confirmed that he belongs in the first-round conversation in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Here are 10 other prospects that caught our eye on Day 1 at the Senior Bowl:
Carlos Basham, Edge, Wake Forest
Dominant all day. Very quick first step with a lot of power
D’Wayne Eskridge, WR, Western Michigan
Game-breaking speed. Good first step off the line. Ability to flash hands late
Richie Grant, S, Central Florida
Shows ability to locate and play the ball. Good range and had pass breakups in both 1-on-1s and team periods
Daelin Hayes, DL, Notre Dame
Played hard all day with aggressiveness and a high motor
Amari Rodgers, WR, Clemson
Looked like the best WR on the field on a team loaded with WR talent
Trey Smith, OG, Tennessee
Overpowering, better bend than expected, dominated 1-on-1s
Benjamin St. Juste, CB, Minnesota
Great measurables. Shined in 1-on-1s with ability to play both press and off coverage. Brings special teams value.
Chazz Surratt, LB, North Carolina
Good lateral quickness. Really good sideline to sideline
Sage Surratt, WR, Wake Forest
NFL body type. Extremely athletic - ability to high point the ball
Austin Watkins, WR, UAB
Reliable hands catcher. Was nearly un-guardable in 1-on-1s
